TBD: Challenge #16: Vincent

I must keep this short as I have to get ready for work. I wish I could stay home and color all day!  Anyway, here is my submission for TBD Challenge 16 - Vincent.

I went with the general feel of the video as well as the black and white color scheme.  I used Smeared Ink "Shadow Thingies" rubber stamp set and colored the images with copic markers.  The bats are from my EK success border punch and the Dripping Goo is a border punch from the devil herself, MS.

Simply Betty Challenges DT Call!!!

In August I was lucky enough to be GDT at Simply Betty Stamps.  I didn't go for that position in September because I had so much fun I figured it was only fair to let others have a chance to do the same.  I'm kicking myself a little because most favorite time of the coming which means SBS Halloween releases are on their way.  I'm willing to bet there will be some cool images coming out!

Anyway, I found out that Betty is starting her own challenge blog...Simply Betty Challenges...which of course is having a DT call!  I love these images so much that I'm going to try out!

Here is a collection of some of my favorite EMO projects:

HDH052-Stamp it Crazy

Here is my submission for HDH052-Stamp it Crazy:

I used three stamped images from Smeared Ink's "Holy City" rubber stamp set.  Technically, I added a fourth stamp so hopefully that doesn't disqualify me.  The sentiment is stamped with Smeared Ink's
Carnies" stamp set.  All images were stamped with Memento ink upon clay coated cardstock.  They were colored with copic markers, matted in dark brown, and mounted on Memory Box paper.

Smeared Ink's Challenge Week 2 - Colours of the Rainbow

I only have time for a quick post as I must get off to work.  Here is my submission for August's Smeared Ink's Challenge Week 2 - Colours of the Rainbow.

For this challenge, I chose to alter a child's Pinball game.  I've included two pics, one with the plastic covering and one without.  The game actually works!  I was afraid it wouldn't after I dismembered it then reassembled it.

I used stamped images from "L'il Grumpies", "Chicks Dig Guns", and the "Shadow Thingies" rubber stamp sets...from Smeared Ink, of course.  Everything is colored with Copic Markers and Distress Inks.

For reference, here is a pic of the original item before I altered it.

If you like what I have created, vote for me over at Smeared Ink.  Click the "challenge" link on the left then click the "vote" link at the top right.  If you see a project you like better, vote for that one as Smeared Ink has a long list of talented followers.  Voting will take place all day today and all day tomorrow.  For more inspiration, check out Smeared Ink's Forum:  Smeared and Smudged.  There is tons of inspiration to be found.

KennyK's Krafty Girlz Challenge # 6

The challenge this week over at KennyK's was Bold and Bright.  That's my style so I jumped on the chance to join.  I worked with the awesome image Troublemaker and colored her with the boldest and brightest copic markers I own.

Sweet, huh?!

Simply Betty Stamps - Back to School Emos - Release Day and Blog Hop!!!!

Sorry!!! I copied the wrong blog list earlier.  It's fixed now.  Sorry for any confusion!

Woohoo!!!!  Release Day is here!!!  In celebration of SBS "Back to School Emos"
release, Simply Betty and her fabulous Design Team is having a blog hop!!!  I have been lucky enough to join the ranks of the DT as a guest designer.  I hope I've been doing an okay job for Betty and her Team. They are such a talented group!  I'll be sad come the end of August as that will be the end of my stay as GDTM.  Be sure to keep up with Betty's blog as you never know when her next GDT call will be.  Let me tell you, it's been an awesome experience!

For the blog hop I chose to work with Miller and Rio, my two favorite images from this line!  I'll keep the descriptions short as there is lots of hopping to do!  Both images are colored with copic markers and are mounted on DCWV "grade school" mat stack.

I like to leave my cards without sentiments until I'm ready to use them.  Doing this enables me to make my cards ahead of time and tailor them to fit any occasion.  Another thing I tend to do is color my images...usually a bunch of them...ahead of time so card assembly goes quickly.  I find for me, my coloring mojo and design mojo seem to be in separate compartments and are not always present at the same time.  It just works better for me this way.

Here is Miller.  Although fashionable and cute as can be, he is looking a bit confused on his first day of class.  Perhaps he can't find his room in his new school?  You know how guys are about asking directions!  His expression is so priceless and endearing, I'm sure some cute girl will come to his rescue!

Next comes Rio.  She is too kewl for skool in her mini-skirt and skully accessories!  Check out her knee-high socks and converse shoes.  Rio definitely makes a statement!  Here she is...wandering the halls, blowing bubbles, and checking out the new boys in class.  Rio is cute as can be...and knows it~!  Look out she comes!

Roll Call!!  Start at Simply Betty Stamps for deets and prize information.

After you have hopped around to all the blogs and left some lovin' please head back over to the Simply Betty Blog and leave us some more lovin'! One random winner will be chosen to win three Back to School Emos of their choice! Good luck to you all and have fun hopping along!

Smeared and Smudged August Sketch Challenge

Hey All!
It's time again for Smeared and Smudged's monthly sketch challenge.  August's challenge is being sponsored by Wild Flower Kids.  Enter a project using this month's sketch (pictured below) and a stamped image and you can win 5 digital images from WFK!  Winners are chosen by a random drawing so a newbie stamper has just as great of a chance at winning as a seasoned stamper.

"Wild Flower Kids is an eclectic group of hand illustrated digital stamps designed by Jennifer Shults. The goal of the Wild Flower Kids line is to create fun and unique stamps for everyday use with a bit of the whimsical thrown in."

Here is the inspiration sketch:
For those not familiar, Smeared and Smudged is a great ning group with some of the most creative and supportive ladies and gents I have ever met.  It is the sister-site of Smeared Ink Stamps.  The focus is on alternative, gothic, or vintage style stamping, but cute and creepy are represented as well.  This group is great for scrappers, card makers, mixed-media artists, art journalists, etc.  Stop by and check us out.  Our little group is getting bigger and better everyday.  Come and show off your work, learn new techniques, and network with an awesome group of artists.

Here's my project for the August S&S Card Sketch Challenge:

This awesome image is one of Kenny K's creations.  Her name is Delores D'ammage and she is from the Gothik Angelz collection.  Kenny's images are so hawt and fun to color!  He has a challenge site as well.  Delores is colored with copic markers.  I left the sentiment area of the card blank so I can add a *personal* message at a later time.

If you want to join the sketch challenge you have until the end of August to submit your entry so be sure to head over to Smeared and Smudged and play along!

SBS - Back to School Emo Release - Preview Day 2

Woohoo!!!!  Preview day two of the Back to School Emos is here!!!  Remember, you have a chance to win all six of these emos!  Check out Betty's site for details.

For preview day two I am giving you a peek at Betty and London.  These gals are sweet and sassy and ready to rock the school year!  Click any of the images to enlarge.

Here is Betty.   She is focused and excited because she is on her way to art class.  I can't say she'd look this thrilled if she were on her way to math class!  Dullsville!  She has her paint brushes and water can in hand ready to get crafty.  Don't you just adore her bat stockings?  Too cute!  I kept the card simple, using DCWV "grade school" mat stack and colored Betty in with Copic markers.  I left the card plain so I can tailor it to any occasion that comes up.

Next on the attendance roster is London.

I couldn't get the lighting right on this one so sorry about any yellow glare.  Note to self, get new light bulbs.

London is dressed to impress for her first day back.  She is styling in her mini skirt, sweater, and skully accessories.  I think she is more excited about seeing her friends than being in class though.  At least she brought an apple for the teacher!  Perhaps it's a little bribe to distract from the fact she brought her pet along for the day?  Is that why she's winking?   Perhaps she's winking at a cute boy?  You decide.

London is colored with copic markers and mounted on DCWV "grade school" mat stack.  I cut out one of the apples from the cardstock and placed it to look as though she is holding it.  I didn't do anything too fancy with this card.  I figured that London was sassy enough on her own.  She didn't need any help to look cool!

I hope you've enjoyed what you've seen.  Be sure to check out the other previews, made by the SBS DT.  You can see the previews on Betty's page or click the links below to see what the girls have come up with.

Don't forget!  The release and blog hop for these images is Sunday the 15th!

Simply Betty Stamps - Back to School Emos - Preview Day 1

Woohoo!!!! The SBS team is so excited to give you a first look at the latest editions of the Back to School Emos! Since I'm GDTM for August, I get to join the girls in previewing these awesome images.  All your favorite My Kids Emo World characters are back, this time ready to rock in a new school year!

Most of you already guessed the theme, but not to worry...we still have a fun game for a chance to win some Back to School Emos!

Here are the details... Betty has uploaded two High School pictures of two DT Members.  Can you guess who they are? Now, for a chance to win all six Emo's on release day (which is this Sunday the 15th) all you have to do is upload your High School picture to the inlinkz below and give us your funniest High School moment you can remember! It doesn't have to be the regular school picture head shot either, it can be you during sports, with friends, lazing about on the couch, or whatever! Just make sure the picture was during your High School years!  Betty and the girls will be reading along.  The entry with the funnest story will be the winner! To be eligible you must provide a picture! Good luck to everyone and we can't wait to hear about your funniest moment in High School!

For preview day one I am giving you a peek at Christian and Lola.  Christian doesn't look too happy about returning to school.  He kinda has that "go eff yourself" look upon his face.  He might be a mope right now, but at least he is a cute one!  I'm sure his mood will change after he sees some of the cute girls in class!
Christian is colored with Copic markers.  I used generic black, blue, and green cardstock.  The DPs are DCWV "grade school" mat stack.  I ripped one of the papers and used MS oozing goo border punch.

Next comes Lola.  Quite the opposite of Christian, she is actually HAPPY to be returning to school.  She can't wait to see her old friends, catch-up on all of the gossip, wear her new outfits, and of course check out all of the hot boys!

Sorry about the pic.  My "natural" light bulb burnt out and the current bulb I'm using is casting a nasty tone upon everything.   The large view shows the color a little better so just click the image to enlarge.

Lola is colored with copics.  Other than my generic black cardstock, all papers are from DCWV "grade school" mat stack.  I used some ribbon that I received as a RAK as well as some metal brads for embellishment.

I hope you've enjoyed this little preview of the back to school emos.  Be sure to check back tomorrow for preview day 2 and again on Sunday the 15th for the back to school emo release and blog hop.  For more previews, be sure to stop over at the Simply Betty Stamps Blog and visit the rest of the DT.

Smeared and Smudged Member Blog Hop-August Edition

It's time again for another Smeared and Smudged Member Blog Hop!  I'm so excited to have such great member participation this time around!  Our little group is getting bigger and better.  Prepare to be wowed!
Our theme this month was "Hidden Object".  We were to make a project using a hidden object or create a project based on hiding.  As is the Smeared and Smudged way, we were to incorporate a stamp in our project somewhere.  I had invested a lot of time into a project, but just wasn't feeling it.  I just scrapped my old project and whipped-up a new one!  Jeez!  I'm tired now...and hungry.  I skipped dinner to get this bad-boy done in time.  Due to lack of brain cells from sniffing too many glue and ink fumes, I'm going to keep the writing bit short as I'm a bit loopy.  I'm going to share my project first as everyone loves eye-candy and then I'll post the order of the hop.  You should have arrived here from Danielle's blog, but if not...don't sweat it.  We aren't too big on rules around here.  We are just big on the art!  Do make sure to check out everyone on the list or you may miss some major coolness.  After you're done checking out my schtuff, head over to Shelly's page.  Be sure to leave everyone a little love as everyone has worked hard on their projects.

I started my project with a Tootsie Pop tin that I bought for one dollar at an antique store.  I almost didn't want to alter it as it was super cute on its own.  I decided to get inky, and gluey, and gooey.

I started by covering the tin with some cool-azz paper, ripping and inking as I went along.  I also added some distressed stickers and more ink.  Here is the front view:

The AB are my initials.  I choose an autumnal theme for this project.
Here is the backside:

Here is where it gets even cooler.  Check the inside view:

I used clay-coated paper and smeared distress inks in various colors directly to the paper.  I then stamped my images with jet black staz-on ink.  The crow image (as well as the papers on the outside of the tin) are Memory Box.  Sorry, I can't remember who makes the spider web stamp.

I used the same technique on the bottom of the tin.  This stamp is also from Memory Box.

This is the side view.  I used three different ribbons.  I'll betcha you wouldn't have figured that out if I didn't tell ya!

I'm going to use my altered tin to hold my ATCs.

Here's the list of bloggers in case you get lost:

Thanks for stopping by.  If you like what you've seen you should stop by Smeared and Smudged sometime for some more great inspiration as well as a fantastic and supportive group of ladies and gents.

HDH051-Netherworld Nymphs:

Here is my submission for HDH051-Netherworld Nymphs:
The image is from Smeared Ink's "Nymphs" rubber stamp set.  She is colored with copic markers and highlighted with an inkessentials white paint pen.  The background is done with various shades of distress inks.  DP is DCWV.  I cut part of the DP and inserted my image into it for an overlapping frame look.  My nymph may not be creepy, but she is definitely otherworldly.  Enjoy!

TBD Challenge #14, Burtonesque Girls, Victorian Style

TBD Challenge 14.  Click image to enlarge.

Here is my entry into TBD Challenge #14, Burtonesque Girls, Victorian Style.  I have decided to work with Darcy from Simply Betty's Victorian Beauties Collection.  She is colored with copic markers, coated with diamond glaze, and mounted on plain white cardstock.  The DP is Memory Box BlackBird Collection.  I used two of the patterns from that set and a scrap piece of DCWV "Mainstreet" which was distressed with ink.  I added a little interest the the Devil's goo punch (MS) and a brown ribbon from paper studio.  i kept the card simple to keep the focus on this gorgeous image.  Thanks for stopping by.

The Wild Flower Patch Wednesday Challenge #26

Wild Flower Kids is sponsoring The August "Very Sketchy" Challenge over at Smeared and Smudged.  If you enter the challenge you have a chance to win 5 Wild Flower Patch digital images!  How awesome is that?!

I haven't done my sketch yet for S&S, but since Jen over at WFK (Wild Flower Kids) was generous enough to let the Smeared Ink DT play with some of her images I thought I'd join in one of WFK's challenges.  This week's challenge was to use embossing.  Rather than heat embossing, I decided to break out my cuttlebug and do some dry embossing.  You can see the wave pattern in the sea, which I inked-up a bit with distress inks.  I also embossed the sand using swiss dots.  Although you can't see the texture in the sand, you can feel it.  I tore the paper for added dimension and popped everything up on foam squares.  This precious image is "Sand Castle Violet".  Sorry about the smudges on her face, but my hands were way too inky from coloring all day.  Anyway, Miss Violet is an outdoorsy girl and doesn't mind getting a little dirty!  She can play as hard as the boys.

Being a Smeared Ink DTM, I tend to do dark, ethereal, or goth-like images.  WFK has fairies and other items that would have fit the bill, but Violet spoke to me.  I swear!  I didn't even feel the urge to make her into a child zombie.  I like her cute.  Of course, cute doesn't translate to innocent!  Of course I had to make Violet a little twisted, thus the sentiment.  I truly hope I don't offend anyone with this posting.  It's all in fun.  I swear when I saw Violet making the sandcastle the sentiment popped into my head and I had to get her.  Don't worry, Jen.  Violet is not condemned to a life of evil.  I plan on using her in several scrapbooks as many of my friends have little girls.
WFK images are a true joy to color.  If you like what I've made, be sure to check out Jen's store and get a few of these cute digis for yourself.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #15 - Fit for a Princess

I used the images "Kiss Me" and "Froggie Thoughts".  Since the images are digital I was able to print them any size I wanted.  The frog is printed at 5x7 inches and the princess is printed at 3.5x5 inches.  They are both colored with copic markers.  I coated the frog's crown and the princess' dress and hair embellie with diamond dust.  The frog himself has some yellow-green glitter that I received as a RAK from my friend Sugar.  Thanks, Doll!  The ribbon is from "the paper studio" and I got it on clearance...50% the most awesome scrapbook store ever in Brown County, Indiana.  I believe it was named Wishful Thinking.  The owners are so nice and extremely knowledgeable about their products.  Their prices are very reasonable for a tourist town, often marked slightly less than most retail craft stores.  If only I was independently wealthy, I would have bought out the whole store!  They have an incredible assortment of stamps and papers and every embellishment you can imagine...even the new release items!  If you're in Little Nashville, you must make a stop there!

HDH 050-Foul Flutterings

Here is my submission for HDH Foul Flutterings:

I decided to go cute rather than creepy this week.  The image is "Christian" from Simply Betty Stamps "my Emo world" collection.  Christian and his pet dragon are colored with copic markers.  I really wish I knew which company made the crow paper as they make a matching rubber stamp as well.  Their papers are too cool and I am in need of more.  I guess I'll be off on a google search soon!  I also used some black raindrop paper, copper brads, and a bottle cap as embellishments.  Thanks for looking!

Today we bring you the Victorian Beauties!
Here's what Betty had to say:

"Hello hello all! Welcome our Victorian Beauties Release Blog Hop! Today we have six wonderful new digis! I have always tinkered for the beauty and elegance of anything Victorian. So I had to have my own twist added to them! These Victorian Beauties were brought to life for me by a new artist Gretchen Flores. I absolutely fell in love with them when she sketched them out for me! I had them in my head, and started working on them, but ran across Gretchen and adored her style! So I though hey why not have her work on these for me as I work on other images that continue to flow around in my head! I gave her the concepts and she sketched her little heart out! These digis are now available in the shop, and will be made into rubber in just a couple of months along with the Summer Emos! So please check back for rubber updates."

What's a hop with out prizes and discounts right?

Lady B (that's Me!)
Ends Back here; Simply Betty Stamps
Posted below are my creations for today's hop.
Click the images for a larger view.

My first card features James in all of his finery, waiting for the ball.  He is colored with Copic markers.  I made the flying skull embellies with a bat die and some cool skull beads given to me by my fellow S&S DT member, Sarah K.  The paper is DCWV "Le Creme" stack and you can actually feel the velvet on it!  I kept the card simple as I wanted James to be the center of attention.

Next comes Elaine dressed elegantly, perhaps waiting for her male caller.  Me thinks she may have a thing for James, but don't tell Mina!  She even chose a matching outfit so they'd make quite the impression whilst dancing.  Once again, Copic markers and DCWV "Le Creme" paper.  While creating, I discovered that most of my markers have been sucked dry!  It must have been the copic vampire!  It can't have anything to do with the fact I have been off all summer and coloring like a mad woman!  Anywho, my coloring may be a bit blotchy as a result.  Also, I ran out of all of my grays.  Luckily I remembered that using colors opposite eachother on the color chart makes gray tones.  Ex: red and green, yellow and purple, orange and blue.  That is how I achieved the gray tones used.  Man!  I can't wait to get my refills!  Coloring will be so much faster and nicer!  I used a sheer silk bow and some metal clasps for adornment.  Sorry about the dark photos.  My scanner is rebelling.

Now, time for Mina to make her grand entrance!  Look out for her!  She may have innocent doe eyes, but don't let that fool you!  She didn't get the tatters on her dress whilst saying her prayers!  She is the feisty one of the group.  She uses her hanky to hide her smirk as she eavesdrops on the men's conversations and can often be found flirting with every available man around.  A refined Victorian Lady?  Perhaps not, but she is a helluva lotta fun!
Image colored with Copic markers.   DCWV "Main Street" paper stack used.  The flower was made with my cuttlebug and embellished with a decorative metal button.

Thanks for hopping with us!

Friends Having Fun Color Challenge #5

Here is my entry for FHF Color Challenge #5.

This incredible image is one of the Nymphs from Smeared Ink Stamps.  I started with some clay coated cardstock and smeared several colors of distress inks directly onto the cardstock.  No sponge or blending tool needed.  I then stamped my Nymph with brown Staz-on ink.  The leaves and extra grass were drawn with my copic markers.  Beware...copics will remove staz-on ink.  I'd recommend using Memento Ink with them instead.

I mounted the image onto DP that looks like sand and further mounted that onto the striped cardstock.  Sorry, I don't remember the brand.  The last piece of cardstock used is a Halloween print, but once again, I don't remember the manufacturer.

I love the way this turned out!  It reminds me of a sunrise/sunset in the summer time!

Verona's Saturday Challenge

Here is my creation for QKD's Sketch Challenge (Verona's Saturday Challenge).  The image is from Smeared Ink Stamps' "Chicks Dig Guns" rubber stamp set.  She is colored with Copic markers.  I used DCWV cardstock (Main Street) as well as generic black cardstock.  I inked up the edges with some Distress ink in black soot.

I finished the card off with a simple sentiment, some jumbo brads, and an aged brass photo corner.  Enjoy!
