Day 2 of the 12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged

Congrats if you've made it this far down the hop list!
  I am Lady Brayton.

If you arrived here from Kat's fabulous blog, you are on the right track.  If you came from someplace else or arrived here by accident and want to start the hop from the beginning, head over to Terra's blog.  After you are done with my blog, your next and final stop on the Creepmas 2013 Blog Hop is the amazingly talented Alison.  Although I am posting early, the hop goes live at 9am Pacific Time.

I have added the entire hop list to my left sidebar.

Today's offering is a paper skull ornament.

This is an older Smeared Ink digi, and he has been added back into the store.  You can find "Watchful Eye" here.

Anyway, I colored the image with copic markers, scanned it to my pc, then I printed a sheet full of images and fussy cut them.  I made several layers and adhered them with silicone household glue that I bought from Ace Hardware store.  The glue is easy to squeeze and has a low odor in comparison to other silicone glues I've tried.

I got silicone glue on the Santa's cap and wanted to color the cap to darken it, but the silicone acted as a resist so I had to sand the cap and paint it.  I used DecoArt Multi-Surface Satin Paint in Red Barn(DA507-30) and Black Tie(DA539-30) to achieve the color I wanted.

I used Glossy accents in the eye as well as the recessed areas and I used Deco Art Glistening Snow Writer (DS75-3) to the white parts of Santa's Cap.  The picture does not do the ornament justice.  It looks so brilliant in real life.  I punched a hole in the cap and added gold cording so the ornament can be hung on my Creepmas tree :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  4. Is it the Caïn 's eye ? Do you the poem from Victor Hugo ? "L'oeil était dans la tombe et regardait Caïn"
This image and its name seem to be isnpired by this poem.

  5. Coloring the image, scanning it and printing multiples - GENIUS!!! And here I was wondering if I would have the patience to color multiples images to make a layered one. You've saved me!

  10. Totally adore the 3d effect. And so very clever to scan it once colored so you don't have to color all the pieces individually! I'll have to remember to do this.
