Day 11 of the 12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged

Congrats if you've made it this far down the hop list!
  I am Lady Brayton.

If you arrived here from Kat's fabulous blog, you are on the right track.  If you came from someplace else or arrived here by accident and want to start the hop from the beginning, head over to Terra's blog.  After you are done with my blog, your next and final stop on the Creepmas 2013 Blog Hop is the amazingly talented Alison.  Although I am posting early, the hop goes live at 9am Pacific Time.

I have added the entire hop list to my left sidebar.

Here is my project for today.
I must warn you...my project is not very creepy.

I painted my blocks with DecoArt America Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paints.  I used Cotton Ball DA500-30, Dark Scarlet DA508-30  and Turf Green DA520-30.  The great thing about these paints is that there is no need for a primer or a sealer.  I did sand my wood and wiped it with a tack cloth prior to painting.

I stamped "Merry Creepmas" with Smeared Ink's retired rubber set "Build a Zombie Alphabet" onto 3/4" squares of white card.  I colored the creepy letters with my copic markers and Spica gel pens.

When my paint was dry, I used DecoArt Decou-Page glue/Sealer in Matte (DS106-64) to adhere the paper squares to the painted blocks.

I added foam dots to some wooden snowflakes and added them to three of the blocks.  For a little extra creep in Creepmas, I added Rick St. Dennis' "Creepmas Tree Lights" image to my Creepmas blocks.  This cutie was colored with copic markers and fussy cut.  He hasn't been attached to my piece so you may see him on a future project :)

Cheers!

  3. What I love about projects like this one is that they aren't overtly creepy. People will wander by it and think "oh, what a sweet Christmas display" and then stop to look closer only to see the zombie alphabet and that little gremlin making trouble. LOVE that surprise factor. And that zombie alphabet is fantastic!
