Representing Airless Chambers for Day 11 of the 31 Days of Halloween. .

Welcome to day 11 of the 31 days of Halloween organized by

I'm Lady Brayton and I am honored to represent Airless Chambers today with my 5" x 7" canvas.  I used Rick's amazing "Lady Greystone the Castle Ghost".  She can be found here in Rick's Etsy Shoppe or you may find her HERE on Zibbet.  If you haven't checked out Rick's Zibbet Shoppe, you really MUST!  It has way more images than his Etsy site and is much easier to navigate to find exactly what you want.  I know my wish list is growing!

Airless Chambers is also a Cryptkeeper in the Halloween countdown 2013, for the complete list of 192 Cryptkeepers joining the countdown to Halloween, see the link here.

I will show my finished project first then I will go into the details of the making of my canvas.  Click pictures to enlarge.

To make this canvas you will need the following materials:

DecoArt Products:
PaintableTextures - Sand (TX03-51)
Americana Paints in Lamp (Ebony) Black (DA067) and Snow (Titanium) White (DA01-3)
Traditions Artists Acrylic Paint in Quinacridone Gold (DAT07-35)
Americana Crystal Gloss Enamels in yellow (DAGT03-30), purple (DAGT08-30), black (DAGT02-30) and white (DAGT01-30)

 Other products:
Canvas 5" x 7"
Alcohol Markers (I used Copic Markers)
A Pencil
White Card Stock
Lady Greystone the Castle Ghost Digi.

When I saw "Lady Greystone", I immediately knew what I wanted to make with her.  She was printed on white card, colored with copic markers, fussy cut, and then I inked the cut edges with an alcohol black marker.

Next I outlined the fussy cut image with pencil onto my  DecoArt Acrylic Gesso (TXFP06-51primed canvas.  Then came the fun part...playing with DecoArt Paintable Texture Sand(TX03-51).  I put a bunch of the texture sand over the entire canvas with plastic palette knives except for the outlined area.  I left that area untouched.

I waited ever so patiently for the texture sand to dry then I painted it with a medium gray colour which was made from Americana Lamp Black (DA067) and Titanium White (DA01-3) paints.  When the base coat dried I did a color wash with Americana Lamp Black(DA067) paint and then a wash with Traditions Artists Acrylic Paint in Quinacridone Gold(DAT07-35).  More drying time.  Sorry...I didn't take pics of these steps.  I dry-brushed some light gray and some white to the peaks of the textured areas.

Out came the Decou-Page Matte (DS106-45) which was used to adhere my image to the blank area of the canvas.  After that was dry, I decided I wanted to do something to bring out the hair and the candles.  Americana Crystal Gloss Enamels did the trick!

I painted over the hair with Black(DAGT02-30) and White(DAGT01-30Crystal Gloss Enamels.  It added richness and dimension to the hair.  I also used the DecoArt Americana Crystal Gloss Enamels on the candles (Purple DAGT08-30) and candle flames (Yellow DAGT03-30).  While the paint on the candles was wet I sprinkled some Glamour Dust Crystal Glitter(DAS37-3on the wet paint for some shimmer.  The purple and yellow crown or hair piece started as puffy paint, but I painted over it with the Crystal Gloss Enamels as well.  Lastly, I sealed my piece with Decou-Page Matte (DS106-45).

I hope you've enjoyed my contribution to the hop.  Your next stop on the hop is Jane's Blog.  Be sure to stop at all the blogs for some amazing Halloween inspiration.
 Cheers!
