Use Embellishments with Smudgy Antics Week 2

This is week 2 of the fortnight challenge with Smudgy Antics!
The theme for this challenge is to

Use Embellishments.

We couldn't have made it any easier on you guys and gals this week!
Just make sure to use a stamped image (rubber or digi), add some embellishments and be sure to read and follow the rules posted on the left sidebar of the challenge blog and you are golden.

Get creative and don't be afraid to think outside of the box.  We embrace all forms of stamped art and love seeing original and diverse projects.  You may enter cards, scrapbook pages, tags, atcs, altered objects, mixed-media projects, etc.  The more creative you get, the more likely you are to be the chosen winner of the challenge.

After taking a peek at my project, please head over to the SA Challenge blog to see what my fellow mates have created for your viewing pleasure.

I made a cute steampunk canvas using DecoArt products, The Gerbil Rider digi stamp from Smeared Ink, freebie images
from the Graphics Fairy and I believe the admission ticket is

I turned the freebie images into embellishments and I also used Ribbon at the bottom of my canvas, recycled mesh, staples, and some silver metal bits.  I placed one metal bit in the eye patch of the gerbil and the other is in the center of the compass on the right side of the canvas.  I almost forgot the skeleton key overlapping the admission ticket.  This was a hard challenge for me because I rarely use embellishments.

Below is a pic of the DecoArt products I used.

To make my crackled background, I painted my Acrylic Gesso (TXFP06-51) primed canvas with Americana Lamp (Ebony) Black(DA067) .  The coverage was so good I only needed one coat.  After drying, I applied a layer of Weathered Wood Crackle Medium (DAS8-9) and allowed it to dry naturally.  Next I painted a layer of Americana Antique Gold (DA09-3) and Honey Brown (DA163-3).  The crackle effect was amazing, but the color wasn't going to work well with the original project I had planned so I gave my canvas a wash of Americana Alizarin Crimson (transparent) paint (DA179-3).  The funny thing is I did not end up using my original image that I had colored so my original color scheme would have worked fine.

I painted the silver gears with Glamour Dust Glitter Paint in "Silver Bling" (DGD02-30).  My Gerbil Rider, watch, pointing hand and compass were colored with markers.  All images were fussy cut and adhered to the canvas with Decou-Page Matte (DS106-45).
