I'm Still Locked-Up in the Dungeon with HDH151

Macabre Monday HDH151 "I'm melting!"

Okay, macabre fans... your challenge this week:
HDH151
"I'm melting!!!"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that has something to do with
melted wax, candles, witches, or melted flesh.
The possibilities really are endless with this one.
It's time to start tapping into your Halloween spirit,
and create something seasonally spectacular!

Let's see some inspirational examples from the Minions to get your mojo flowin'.

Here is my offering:
I used one of Smeared Ink's images, drawn by their newest artist, Ike.
The image is Succubus #4 from the Succubus digi set.

Here is what she looked like before I got my hands on her:
She is gorgeous...or was.  LOL!

I had grand ideas of making the succubus look like she's melting.
I'm not sure if I've succeeded as my PS abilities are well below where I want them to be.  This was my first attempt at this effect.  I'm sure PS experts will laugh at my results, but one cannot learn if one is afraid to try.
I put on my big girl panties, shouted "Fuck it" into the dark, echoing halls of the Dungeon, and I mustered the courage to try to bring my idea to life.

I colored the succubus in the colors of flames, attempted the melting effect, and put the succubus in a background of fire.  The papers are from Crafty Chaos Designs.  Every time I use Susan's papers I think of her. I roughly followed the sketch from the "Very Sketchy" challenge on the Smeared and Smudged Forum. You can see I moved the sentiment, but other than thatI followed the sketch pretty closely.

Head on over to HDH Macabre Monday and see what the Minions have in store for you.  This is a command, not a request ;)

Cheers!

  8. hi ya, thanks for stopping by and asking about the wax.
I just melt it in the pot and apply it with a flat paint brush, I have one I only use with wax. I stain/paint the canvas first and then brush over a layer of wax and then keep adding layers sealing with a thinish layer of wax. It's great fun and very easy to get going. very forgiving as well as you can cover over parts with paper etc.
