Hot as Hell with HDH

I had a little free time.  Amazing, right?!
I decided to play along with Macabre Monday HDH133 with the theme

We were challenged to make a Dark, Gothic, or Halloween themed piece that represents flames or create something that requires heat, burning, scorching, or heat embossing.  We were also able to take the minions on a tour of Hell.

Since I can't bring the Minions to work with me, the tour of Hell was out of the question.  Off I went to get a little crafty.

Here is my tribute to the Minions:

This didn't turn out quite how I wanted it to, but the fun is in the journey!
I started by using one of my favorite Smeared Ink rubber stamps (now only available in digi form), versa mark ink, and Zing embossing powder in black.  Add heat and the magic happens.  I painted the image with my aqua pens and distress inks (tea stain, fire brick red).
The image is "Angel" and it is from the set "As Death".

Next I went to work on the background using a bunch of Dylusions Spray Inks.  Love them!  If you look closely you may see some of my homemade bat stencils and possibly some skull and crossbones, but I think those got lost behind my image.  Of course I had to use my heat gun to dry the project.  Did I mention it is 91 degrees F here?  For May, that is Hot as Hell!

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment "I tend to curl my speculation towards my inner horror".  It is from Smeared Ink as well.  It irritates the Hell out of me that I stamped it crooked.  Oh well!

All this was mounted on black cardstock and some fire digi paper that I made and printed out.

Cheers!

  3. Thanks Mark and Glow! Only part of one skull shows in the bottom right. The others got covered by my image or cut off to make my project fit the printed paper.
