Sugar Skull Love

Recently, I was searching the web for sugar skull designs to color for a HDH Macabre Monday challenge.  In my hunt, I came across the most awesome sugar skull design ever!  It was created by artist James Garza and can be seen on his blog.  I messaged James and asked if I could color his image for my project and he was kind enough to say yes!  Sadly, due to time constraints and having too many projects on my plate, I didn't finish my project in time for the challenge, but I had a blast coloring up this bad-boy anyway.  I printed the image for a total project size of 8.5" x 11" and colored it with my copic sketch markers and ranger distress inks. I botched the coloring in a few spots, but I still think it came out pretty fabulous.  I think I may make an even larger canvas of this image as I've been itching to get back into painting.  Be sure to check out James work on his blog link above.

Cheers!

  6. I just got this tattoo. I loved James Garzas artwork. I had looked at probably thousands of other sugar skulls but this is the one that stood out from the rest to me. Just getting final touch ups on the color. Thank you for posting this Lady B.
