Smeared Ink DT Sponsor Hop - Delicious Doodles

Today the Smeared Ink DT brings you our January Sponsor Blog Hop with projects made from awesome images provided by Delicious Doodles.  Delicious Doodles is sponsoring the Forum's "Very Sketchy" challenge and the "Photo Inspiration" challenge.  Check out the forum links for details.

My project today contains two stamps.  The foreground stamp is the lovely "Wistful Fairy" from Delicious Doodles.  Isn't she gorgeous?!  I had to find the perfect background for such a beautiful creature and I figured what better than a garden?  In my stash I had this equally lovely garden scene.  I believe it's a Thomas Kinkade stamp.  Although the background has vivid colors and is quite detailed, the Wistful Fairy has no trouble taking center stage!

The background image was stamped with Memento ink and the Delicious Doodles image was a digi that I printed out.  Everything is colored with Copic markers.  Yep.  Markers.  I was so excited that this project appears to be painted (in my opinion, anyway).  Unfortunately, my BV markers started to run dry and I had no refills so I couldn't blend the fairy's dress as well as I wanted.  I still think she looks fabulous!  I used distress stickles and atyou spica gel pens for glitter accents on the fairy's gloves and wings.  I don't think my scanner picked up on the glitter too well.  I also used a white gel pend for highlights and a black fine point sharpie on parts of the gate.  I applied some stampendous embellishments that look like little jewels to the fairy's gloves, crown, and dress.

So where's my hybrid stuff that I'm so fond of?  Well, pretty much everything is handmade this time around.  I originally printed the fairy out at about 8 inches for my art journal cover, however I wanted to do something a little more special since the image is so stunning.  My Kinkade stamp is only 4x6 inches so obviously the fairy wasn't going to fit and I ran out of time to color a new one.  I scanned my fairy and my completed garden scene and uploaded them to photoshop.  I kept the garden scene as a JPEG image, but made the fairy into a PNG image.  I then resized her as slipped her into the garden scene.  A perfect fit!

Wow!  This was probably the most labor intensive project that I've done in awhile, but it was so worth it!  Even my husband was impressed with this one!   I hope you enjoy viewing my project as much as I enjoyed making it.  Oh, don't worry.  I'm not going all soft and romantic on you guys.  Delicious Doodles has plenty of skulls and darker images that I plan on getting in the near future!  There's a little something for everyone, no matter what your crafting style, so be sure to check them out!

Oooops!  I almost forgot the blog list!  I think we go live at 9am pacific time on 01-26-2011.  I'm off to bed so I am posting early.  Feel free to go in any order you want for the hop.  Please leave everyone a little bit of love as everyone worked so hard on their projects.  Thanks for hopping!
