Smeared and Smudged Rock-N-Rolla Challenge

Rock-n-Rolla Inspiration Challenge:

Smeared Ink Stamps hosts a ning group called Smeared and Smudged.  They have great monthly challenges.  In today's project for the rock-n-rolla challenge I used digital images from Itkupilli, stamps and stickers from Tim Holtz, Distress Inks from Ranger, and RAK from Sugar and Kelli.

Before the reveal, let me tell you a little about the Rock-n-Rolla challenge.  This is a challenge that focuses on finding visual inspiration from music videos! It is supposed to be fun and make you think outside of the box.

THE RULES:

Each month Terra will post a link to a video for you to view. Find something in the video that visually inspires you and make a project based on that.

JULY CHALLENGE:

"Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand.  This one is FULL of visual inspiration!

THE PRIZE:

3 "My Kids Emo World" stamps from Simply Betty Stamps!

Now...time for the reveal!

Sorry about the blurry image.  I should have used my camera instead of my scanner.  There is just too much dimension on this collage for my scanner to handle.

I started out with DCWV cardstock, distressed the edges, and grunged it up a bit with Distress Ink in Black Soot.  I applied some Tim Holtz Stickers (clocks and compass) a little off the edge and cut off the excess.  Putting these off the edge just seemed more natural than having them perfectly placed.  I used distress ink on these as well.  With one, I scraped it up with my scissors then applied even more Ink.

The skeleton, house, anatomy head, and creepy baby dolls are all digital images from Itkupilli.  She has awesome ATC backgrounds, vintage pin-ups, inchies and twinchies, dark gothic images, and so much more.  Her images come either in jpeg or png format for you digital crafters.  Once I learn photoshop I'm sure I'll be getting many more of her images.  Right now I use the jpeg format and cut out my pieces.  Oh...she has bottle cap and microscope slide images as well for altered jewelry.  Definitely give her site a peek!

Hmmm...where was I?  Damn ADD!  I got distracted!  Oh, Yeah....so I cut out my digi images (some were printed on photo paper, some on regular paper) and place them about my collage.  Of course I had to use lots of torn paper for my grunge/steampunk look. You'll notice I have a letter in the center of my skele's chest.  This was a Tim Holtz cardstock sticker popped up with a foam dot.  There's really no significance other than I thought it looked cool and in the video they had a dude with the letter N in place of his torso.  The "d" in my picture fit the proportion of my project better.

The final touches involved metal charms from Michael's Arts and Crafts, frosty bead-like gems that I received as a RAK from my friend Sugar, a chain I received from Kelli, and a "forever" metal charm that I purchased on clearance at a scrapbook store.  Sorry, I don't remember the brand.

Sorry to talk your ear off, but I was really excited to share my project.  It's my first attempt at a project like this.  I imagine it will be the first of many more to come.

Thanks for looking!
Cheers!
