Simply Betty Blog Hop...Smeared and Smudged Style!

Simply Betty is one of our fabulous sponsors for the month of July! The Smeared Ink DT even got to play with the awesome My Kids Emo World stamps! Betty herself challenged us to "Get Grungy with Simply Betty Stamps!" The Smeared and smudged DT was to create something cute and grungy using 1.) fun grungy elements 2.) the colors black, grey, and any other combo we wanted to throw in the mix and 3.) maybe use metal embellishments too, so it has that grungy look.  Guess what?!  Betty and one of her DT members are hopping with us!  What an awesome collaboration!  I can't wait to see what everyone creates!

I am a huge Simply Betty fan and was super eager to join in.  I got so excited about this challenge that I actually made 4 projects!  My hubby almost had to pry me away from my craft table!  I picked "Christian" to work with.  I made two projects with him and also made cards using "Betty" and "London".

Here is the first card I made with "Christian".

I stamped him with Memento Ink and colored him in with Copic Markers.  His skin was colored with Prisma colored pencils as all of my flesh tone markers have been completely drained.  Time to shop!  The skull was a stencil from Joann Fabrics...originally for a tee-shirt.  I decided to use it like a mask and it worked!  I used lots of Distress Ink in this project...for the skull and to edge and grunge up my various layers of paper.  I did sneak some metal in...the brads for the eyes of the skull.

My second project with "Christian" is below.

The card layout is very similar, but I made "Christian" a blond in this one with awesome emerald eyes to match his pet dragon.  His body was colored with Copic Markers and his face was colored with colored pencils.  I used a cross stencil in this project.  I forgot to put the stencil on fabric first (to remove the excess stickiness), but it worked to my advantage.  It roughed-up my paper big time when I peeled it off...which gave an awesome effect!  I just inked the ripped paper lightly for that grungy look.

Now comes "London" with her fabulous self.

The same applies...copics, pencils, distress.  I added jeweled brads and spiders for accents.

Last one for today..."Betty"!

In honor of the blog hop, I made "Betty" especially grungy!  Lots of distress ink going on!  I used the cross stencil again.  The edges were made with an EK Success border punch.  I used metal embellishments at the top.

Whew!  I hope I didn't drive you mad with all of my projects!  I just loved them all so much I couldn't pick just one, so I used them all!  If I haven't tired your eyes out too much continue on with the hop, but before you go read the announcement below.
