Smeared Ink June Release Blog Hop

My apologies to everyone for not having my blog posted this morning.  Last night, as I was typing this post, we had yet another wind storm resulting in a loss of power.  This time my generator was no help as the winds had knocked out my internet and phone service.  This was the first time in years I have been disconnected totally.  Wow!  I felt completely lost!  I talk to my blog buddies almost daily and not being able to connect...even for a minute to let others know what was going on...sucked!

Now the GOOD news!  My power is restored, my network is up and running, and best of all...Smeared Ink is having a HUGE RELEASE!  Awesomeness!  In celebration...and to show you the awesomeness that is Smeared Ink, we are having a DT blog hop featuring "Praise" from Smeared Ink's "The Symbology of Angels" rubber stamp set.  Here is a list of the blogs to visit:

Smeared Ink will start having quarterly releases. The next release is scheduled for August and will be a HUGE HALLOWEEN RELEASE!! I can't wait!  Halloween is my absolute favorite time of the year!!!

Before I post my projects, I wanted to show you pics of the new Smeared Ink releases.  Click any photo for a full view or to enlarge.

Okay...now that you've seen the cool release images, let me show you what I did with "Praise" from The Symbology of Angels set!

I decided to make a gate-fold card.  I guess that's what you'd call it.  For the doors I just used black generic cardstock and used my new EK Success border punch.  I colored a set of the angel wings, cut them out, and placed them on the door handles.  If you look closely, it almost looks as though the wings are peeking out of the door while still being attached to the angel.  Totally accidental, but I like the effect.

Here is the inside view of the card.  I kept the card simple as I didn't want to take away from the beauty and detail of the angel.  Aren't his wings just fabulous?

I colored the angel with my copic markers.  I applied tape to the edges of the card and ripped it off, then inked the edges with Distress ink.  I matted the card on blue and black cardstock and BOOM!  I have a mini piece of art just waiting to be sent to someone special.

Here is another creation I made with "Praise".  Click on any image for a larger view.  The church if from Smeared Ink's "Holy City" stamp set and of course there is our lovely feature angel, Praise, from "The Symbology of Angels" stamp set.  Don't the two sets look as though they were meant to go together?  Once again I used copic markers to color, this time using mostly gray values on the angel (c1, c4, c7, 100).  The church was colored with copics as well, but I didn't keep track of the colors.  I mounted everything on Die Cuts with a View cardstock.  The fenced part of the card was created with an old-skool die-cut from Archiver's.

I hope you've enjoyed what you've seen.  Be sure to check out the crafty creations of the other ladies on the hop.  If you haven't visited the Smeared and Smudged group, you should totally check us out!
