This is my week as a Smeared Ink DT member to share an altered item using a stamped image. My problem is that I always tend to give altered items as gifts before taking pics of them so I rarely have any of my altered items laying around the house.
My altered item this week was inspired by my fellow Smeared Ink DT member, Kelli Green. She sent me a package of yummies which I had a blast playing with! In the package there was this super thick tag. I don't remember if it was made out of cardboard or some other material and now it is so coated with so many layers of paper and other items that I couldn't tell you what it is made out of! In the package Kelli gave me there were gears as well as transparencies, vellum, chain, pins, beads, etc. Basically, I layered paper all over the tag, mounted the Love stickers on foam squares for dimension, glued the gear on with glossy accents, added more paper and the transparency, and finally added my stamped image. Oh...the image...doesn't she rock?! This is another one of Terra and Tori's creations at Smeared Ink Stamps. She is from the "Carnies" set. I colored her with Copic markers and used some Distress Stickles for her wonderful tail. The project was easy-peasy, but it looks like a ton of work went into it. I had so much fun doing this project. I would encourage everyone to find at least 5 random objects and see what you can make with it. You might surprise yourself. Also, wouldn't it be better to recycle old items and make them into art rather than add to the ever-growing landfill? Give it a shot! For inspiration, head over to the Smeared and Smudged forum and see all of the lovely creations the ladies have come up with. There are also design challenges to get your creative juices flowing...with prizes to be won! So what are you waiting for?
