Here is one of my altered items for the Smeared and Smudged forum. It is a stamped grumpie from Smeared Ink on muslin. It was originally going to be a stuffed keychain, but then I found this wicked mini-jar and had to make a home for my grumpie. Simple, but cute.
This next altered item is my fav. It is a test-tube transport box used in the blood lab at work. One of the girls let me snag a few. These are awesome because they already have punches in the top and are ready for assembly. A few folds, some sticky tape, and you're done. Here's what they look like prior to alteration:
I used Tim Holtz alcohol ink on the entire piece. Once dry, I assembled the box and pushed in all of the test tube slots. I then took my favorite images from Smeared Ink's "Li'l Grumpies" rubber stamp set, colored them with my copics, and attached Tim Holtz fragments to the images with Glossy Accents. I used the Glossy Accents to attach the fragments to the box as well as the metal embellies. Here is the result:
I love practical items! This same concept can be used with a tissue box or any similar sized cardboard or cardstock box. Why pay for a plastic marker holder when you can re-use, recycle, or repurpose items you already have? Mother Earth would thank you.
THANKS for stopping by.
Cheers!

Yah. Those are both totally awesome, but I love the recycled blood-transfer box. The alcohol ink background is awesome and I love the fragment covered Grumpies.
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, I used some fragments today to complete a card. Love 'em.
